When news gets deleted from the front page, they're moved to this page. There are no news older than September 1999, though. I'v kept the links as they were when they were on the main page, but lots of them probably doesn't work anymore.
News, December 30: Happy New Year to everybody! These last months have been a bit hectic, so I've neglected my poor site a bit. Shame on me! I'm slowly but steadily working through my task list, now that the country is buried in snow anyway; what can be more cosy than a nice, warm PC, a cup of hot chocolate in the glow of the screen and the glimmering snow outside?
October and November riddles are up and running, so next item on my to-do-list is December and hopefully January.
There's also a handful of new graphics; speaking of graphics, the hit rate quadruples every year in late December, and this December is no
exception...
Recently I've had visitors from places as diverse as Brunei Darussalam, Cocos (Keeling) island (though I doubt it really came from there... but the .cc was genuine), Costa Rica, Fiji, Jordan, New Caledonia, Solomon Islands, United Arab Emirates, Vanuatu, the Vatican and Zimbabwe... Plus all the usual dotcommers and dotnetters, of course.
I've decided to take the Friends section off my site - it didn't really get any hits, and I haven't updated it for ages.
No news from November...
No news from October...
No news from September...
News, August 24::More graphics in the backgrounds section.
News, August 23::Riddles for September are here.
News, August 7::Server was down for a few hours - we had a not-so-nice thunderstorm which caused a bit of havoc in the electrical systems (and flooding in our basement, grrrr!). Unless it happens again tonight, which the meteorologist have warned against, everything should be back to normal...
News, August 6::More graphics - Buttons, backgrounds and banners... Just wondering - there are more people on the net than years ago; my pages get more hits than years ago - but there are fewer people signing my guestbook?
News, August 5::A few more gradient backgrounds in the Graphics Section - Backgrounds Department. Speaking of the Graphics sections, oh, am I tired of the SirCam virus? The answer is yes... Since this virus sends itself to addresses not only in the Outlook & Outlook Express address books but also to mail addresses found on pages that the infected computer has visited, my contact address on the Graphics page gets lots and lots of mails infected with the virus. Sigh.
News, August 4::Finally rain here; I'm one of those people who feels uncomfortable in temperatures above 25 degress Celsius... Oh well, there's a new recipe in Danish - Afrikansk krydret bulgur. The Incompatibility page has been updated with a few new stories, and the Thawte section has been checked.
News, July 11::A few new recipes in Danish - Risnudelomelet and "Grøn fisk" i ovn...
News, July 1: :My secondary site, www.pickering.dk, is up and running...
News, June 29::I added a section about Thawte Web of Trust and updated the Who Am I-page.
News, June 17::Never waste those unexpected bursts of energy... more riddles - for August! - are up now!
News, June 15 (quite, quite late...): Sometimes it's good to try something new, like making riddles in advance - the July riddles are here...
News, June 15 (quite, quite early...):
I'm back from a really great holiday. I can really recommend the British Channel
Islands - wouldn't mind living there (anybody on Guernsey needing an
Outlook-programmer?). Seems as if recently my recipes have been quite popular - another
reason why I should translate them as soon as possible - and I'm actually really working on it.
I've recently had hits
from Mauritius, United Arab Emirates, India, South Africa - it's so nice to see
something different than the usual .dk and .com's around here every now and
then!
Questions for the updated euronerd test in progress are still very welcome at EuroNerd@nerdbird.dk
New Graphics added - it's backgrounds
again. Who Am I has been updated - my old picture
was from 1997.
News, May 28::Phew, finally! Riddles for April, May and June! 13 riddles in one...
News, May 7: No Statistics today... seems as if the statistics program didn't run tonight. How frustrating!
News, May 3:Sorry for being so slow in my updates! I've had the pleasure of much work, birches, a traffic accident and a brain damaged server recently (the CPU & motherboard finally gave up), so I have neglected this site a bit. But finally,
there are a few updates on the
Incompatibility page, and three new
pages in the Graphics section.
I'm working on the riddles for April and May... stay tuned!
Office XP is in beta, I have a version of it, and as soon as I get the time to play a bit more around with it, I'll go update my assistant pages... Hopefully, the NerdBird will work in XP as well!
Talking of NerdBirds, I get some mails every now and then asking why it doesn't install in Word 97 (since it's
a: Only for Office 2000 and b: Not a selfinstalling program and both things are stated in the installation guide)...
I have updated the instructions a bit, as I hadn't realised in the beginning that MS Agent is a requirement for it to run - Agent is "sometimes" installed along with Office 2000, depending on your settings. Updates to come in that section is a Office 2000 article, more links, some XP-notes, hopefully an installation program and/or a zipped version of the file, and improving the installation guide to cover Windows 2000 as well.
I plan to kill a few sections on the site and others will be redesigned.
I'm looking into making an updated version of the EuroNerd tests as well; suggestions for new questions and a new name is welcome at
EuroNerd@nerdbird.dk. My intentional plan was to call it EuroNerd2000, but since we're already in 2001, that would be a bit lame - almost as lame as calling it EuroNerdXP would be.
Another project in progress in the translation of my recipes into English, more graphics for the graphics-hungry and the long promised revamping of the design...
No news from April...
News, March 9:The Incompatibility Page has been updated with a few new bloopers. The Riddle section has been updated with the riddles for March. Archive has been split up in Archive and Archive for 2000.
News, March 3:The Who
Am I page has been updated slightly (a few more certs and a change in the
GeekCode, but that's about it) and in the gastronomical section, two new recipes
have been added, unfortunately only in Danish - Mexicansk-inspireret
kartoffelmos and Kylling
med chili og tropefrugter.
News archive has been split up in Archive and Archive
for 1999.
News, February 4: Guestbook section has been updated, so that the 2000-entries are now a section for themselves. My counter passed the 20,000 hits - and the assistant page passed the 25,000 hits.
News, February 2: Mmmm... Lots of snow outside, a hot cup of chocolate and a happily humming computer - time to finally get those riddles done: Riddles for January and February are here. Statistics now includes Windows Millenium Edition. And when I'm writing this, I'm just two hits from seeing the counter turning over to 20,000. Great...
News, January 31:
Whee! Happy New Year, everybody! I hope everybody enjoyed the 2000->2001
transition and/or Chinese New Year in style and with fun!
I have a few New Years resolutions - 2001 should hopefully be the year when the
whole site gets an overhaul, including a new CSS-based look'n'feel, where the
EuroNerd 98 test gets upgraded to... what? (EuroNerd 2001? EuroNerd Millenium?
EuroNerd v. 2.0?) and when the Assistant section gets the updates it deserves.
The Statistics page has been changed a bit.
The Mozilla browser (not the Netscape browser) is now a possibility of its own.
The AOL-browser and the WebTV-browser have also gotten their own entries; they
identify themselves as members of the MSIE family, but out of curiousity, I
decided to split MSIE up in WebTV, AOL and "real" MSIE. This means
that the older totals (complete totals and totals for January) are not correct
AOL/WebTV/MSIE-wise - the monthly total will be in a few days, and the total
totals will be if I take the time to run all the logs from the beginning through
the filter...
January was the month when the Assistant page
kicked the index-page off the Complete total #1 position with almost 25,000
hits... The Microsoft Office Assistant section
has been updated including removing some rotten links and adding an Assistant
FAQ, which hopefully should help lots of those people who write to me with
assistant questions. I plan a major update in this section during February.
Riddles for January & February are on their way, but I haven't quite been
able to format them yet...
