Back to "Microsoft Office Assistants"
The NerdBird Office Assistant is a freeware assistant for Office 2000. I made it as part of my final thesis, and instead of just letting it collect dust in a remote corner afterwards, I decided to release it here for download.
It's a rather noisy, blue bird which does a lot of things, while you work in Office.
It's a private made Office Assistant - I'm no professional in doing this, so the technical quality could be better.

Filesize: 1.2 MB uncompressed.
Who may use the NerdBird Office Assistant? You may! You may install it on your home computer, your work computer (if your boss allows it) or your computer at your school (with permission from your teacher or whoever is responsible for the computers) as long as you don't earn any money by doing it. There's no time limit for using it.
The NerdBird Office Assistant is distributed as is, and no warranties are given.
The NerdBird Office Assistant is ©1999 NerdBird's Nest and distributed as a whole. No reverse-engineering is allowed. The NerdBird character is ©1997-1999 NerdBird's Nest and may not be used by other individuals or companies.
Though you can use it as much as you want (following the rules), I strongly encourage you to register (if you want to get it from here, you can't get it without registering - but not much info is required). First of all, I'm curious about the people who are using the NerdBird; secondly, you'll get the possibility of being notified, when a newer version of the NerdBird is available.
The NerdBird Office Assistant may be distributed for free among individuals, meaning that you may give it to your friends via email, diskette or CD-ROM. It may not be put on any other site than www.nerdbird.dk for download; it may not be distributed via commercial CD-ROMs such as those accompanying computer magazines without the written permission of me. If you're interested in distributing the NerdBird Office Assistant in one way or the other, please contact me.
Go here and register! Then you'll get it...
Go here and register! When you're taken to the download page, just don't download it (simple, eh?).
Installation instruction can be found on the install page.
A few users have reported trouble when downloading the NerdBird with Netscape. The file downloaded turns out to have anoter size than the original assistant-file on the server, and is unreadable - hence useless - from Office. No such problems have been encountered with Internet Explorer. Since Office 2000 requires Internet Explorer 5, I suggest you try using the IE5 installed instead of Netscape, if you should get any problems with a "Netscape" NerdBird. If you do use Netscape, download it and it doesn't work, and later download it with IE and it does work, please drop me a note with the following info: Netscape version (version number and language) and operating system. I'm trying to collect enough details to report this to Netscape.
