Operating Systems Jokes

This section has shrunk compared to my old Nerd's Corner. But, many of the links had expired, while other sites didn't pass my quality test the second time I took a look at them: It's easy to find pages devoted to make a laugh out of an operating system, but it's very difficult to find one which does it elegantly!

Much more worth reading are pages devoted to computer humour in general. I can strong- or weakly recommend these:

Fun Browser Stuff

It's funny to make your web pages look good, beautiful, disgusting or whatever your intention might be. If your goal is so sabotage the reading of your page, it's possible to make a page, which is readable with Microsoft Internet Explorer, but not with Netscape! Check out the Mozilla-invisible Explorer-friendly page! I tested it with version 4.x of both browser, and it worked as it should... You can find out how to make one by reading the page :-) More tricks of how to compose evil HTML can be found in The HTML Terrorist's Handbook. If you want to show that your page is not designed for Netscape, you can find some really funny Anti-Netscape logos. There are also other Anti-Netscape sites to be found (great links somewhere in this document).

The Internet Oracle!

Troubles? Want an advice? Ask the Internet Oracle... Ask the Oracle by e-mail to oracle@cs.indiana.edu. If you want directions, just write help in "Subject"; if you want a question answered, write Tell me in "Subject" and your question, politely stated, in the body. You'll get your answer replied within 2 minutes - 2 days. You'll probably also get somebody else's question to reply. If you don't have any questions, but like to reply to other peoples questions, just write Ask me in "Subject".

The New Hacker's Dictionary - Speak Like The Geek!

The New Hacker's Dictionary is the paper based version of the Jargon File. If you haven't read any of these, you really can't call yourself a geek! Ever tried making Ooblick? Ever committed Plokta? Read the book!
