| Q: I like your graphics. Can I use
it?
A: Sure. As long as you follow a simple rule: The images are made for everybody to use.
But, you are not allowed to use it on commercial sites or for other commercial purposes
(hey, I don't get paid for doing this!). Furthermore, they may not be used for illegal or
obscene purposes either. All in all, if you're making a private homepage, sending an HTML
e-mail or doing a PowerPoint presentation or whereever you may need graphics, you can use
it.
If you decide to use any of it, I'd be very happy if you drop me a note. I'm just so curious to see where
the graphics go...
Q: I like your graphics and I'm going to use it.
Can I just link to your server or should I make a copy?
A: No hotlinking, please! Please download the file! For homepages, put it along with your other
files on the web server; for mail, download it to your computer and use it
from there. Please don't make a direct link to a graphics file on my
server.
From April 17th, 2004, hotlinking has been blocked on the server. Obviously, people didn't read this FAQ or didn't care, and since 83% of the web traffic from the server consisted of requests for hotlinked graphics, I blocked it, pure and simple.
Q: How do I use the graphics for
WebTV/AOL/Hotmail/Outlook Express/FooMail?
A: I got this question so many times that I came up with a standard answer:
Sorry, but ask somebody else with WebTV/AOL/Hotmail/Outlook
Express/FooMail. I only provide the graphics
for whoever wants to use; I don't have time nor ressources (I do this site
in my sparetime) to learn how to include it in the hundreds of different
mail systems, HTML editors, word processors etc. out there.
Besides, I believe there's some kind of help function in WebTV/AOL/Hotmail/Outlook
Express/FooMail, and
inserting graphics is so basical (judging from the graphics loaded mails I
get from people using WebTV/AOL/Hotmail/Outlook Express/FooMail) that the help function must be able to provide you
with the answer.
Q: Your graphics isn't the right size. How do I change
it?
A: With some graphics software you feel comfortable with. I'm not going to
bite your head of if you decide to resize the pics; but please do try to
find out how to do it by yourself.
Q: How do I use the graphics for my homepage?
A: Sorry, I make graphics, but I have no intentions of teaching anybody HTML
or FrontPage Express, Word, HoTMetaL or whatever all those editors are
called. For my reason, read the above question about e-mails.
Q: Which software do you use to make the graphics?
A: About 90% of the images are created with Micrografx Picture Publisher 7 and 8. The rest
is made with Alchemy Mindworks' GIF Construction Set 32 and a few with Paint Shop Pro. Oh,
and the raytraced 3D-thingies are made with Micrografx Simply 3D 2 and 3.
Q: Would you send me a copy of the software you use, or do you
know a place where I can download it for free?
A: Nope... Both Picture Publisher, Simply 3D and GIF Construction Set 32 are commercial
programs. You'll have to buy them, if you want to use them (the prices are very fair).
Micrografx programs can usually be found in 30 day trials, and GIF Construction Set is
shareware, so you should be able to find them on the net and try them out.
Q: Do you have any picture of a horse, a waving flag, a
troll, a <whatever>?
A: If it's not here on this site, no. And I can't tell you where to find
any; the search engines are much better than me at that.
Q: I like those scrolling texts. However, I couldn't
find any with exactly the text I want. Would you do one for me?
A: The scrolling text pictures are very easy to make with GIF Construction
Set (you don't even have to think to use it!), so go to the Alchemy
Mindworks page and download it; it's shareware. It's a Windows
program. If you're not running Windows, I can't help you, but I'm sure
there are similar programs for other OS'es.
Q: I like your picture of the XYZ, and I would like to
use it in my WebTV-mail. Could you tell me the URL?
A: I have never in my life used WebTV, but I suppose it must be quite
simple; in most other browsers you know, you can right-click the picture
and get to know about the pic's properties in one way or the other.
Q: Who are you?
A: My name's Lærke Thomasen. I'm a 27 year old Danish woman and I work as a
Systems Developer. If you want to see the rest of my homepage, click on My Page to the
left.
The graphics that can be found on these pages can be used for free by
everybody. They may not be used for commercial, illegal or obscene purposes. If you decide
to use some of my graphics, please drop me a note.
