NerdBird's Riddle Archive

Every weekend a new logic riddle is published here (please forgive me, if real life now and then forces me to delay the publishing) and old riddles are moved to the archive. Every riddle has been constructed and tested by me, but still I won't guarantee that they "work". Never mind, go ahead and try!

Riddle #48 (published April 17, 1999)

Old McDonald has a farm, and within the last year, he has added 4 new animals to the farm. The sheep is 4 years old, and the horse is 8 years. The cow has had 2 calves. The animal that is 4 years old has been 5 months at the farm. The animal that has had 5 "kids" is one year younger than the cow. The sheep has had 3 lambs in all. The animal with one "child" is one year older than the goat. The animal that is 5 years old has been 9 months at the farm. The animal that is 7 years old has been 2 months longer at the farm than the sheep, but two months less than the animal that has 2 "kids". The cow hasn't been there for 11 months.

How long has the sheep been at the farm?
