NerdBird's Riddle Archive

In the beginning of every month, I publish a bunch of new riddles - 4-5 every time, as it's supposed to be one per week. Every riddle has been constructed and tested by me, but still I won't guarantee that they "work". Never mind, go ahead and try!

Riddle #92 (published January 31, 2000)

5 noblemen meet at court, and while waiting to get to speak to the King, they compare their heraldic shields – all of them having one background colour and a motive in another colour.
Sir John's shield has a white background, and it's not the one with oak tree, because the oak tree belongs to Sir James.
Sir James uses a golden motive, not on red background. Sir David is not the one using the red background – he prefers a green background, but not with a black motive.
The black motive shows 3 stars on a yellow background.
The shield with the yellow background doesn't show an eagle, but the eagle isn't on a blue background, which doesn't belong to Sir Robin.
Sir Robin's shield shows a sun, which is not blue. The blue motive is not a horse, and the shield with the horse doesn't belong to Sir Patrick.
Sir Patrick doesn't use the eagle, which is not on a green background. The shield with the green background doesn't show a sun, and the sun is not white. The eagle is not white, and the eagle is not on a green background.
The shield with the green background doesn't have a yellow motive.

What colour is the horse?
